Breath control, selective podcast sync, View changes, and the assistant becomes RØDIE.

  • Breath control and review

Breaths are found on your device and get their own review pass in the transcript. Turn their volume and length up or down, or restore them all at once.

  • Choose what stays on device

Pick which podcasts keep their media on this computer. Free up space without losing the project, and download it again whenever you need it.

  • See what you changed

Compare your edit with the original recording, and put any selection back exactly as it was recorded.

  • Meet RØDIE

The assistant has a new name and a rebuilt panel. Support articles open as link cards, and you can trim a suggested deletion before applying it.

New

  • Breath control and review: breaths are detected on your device and get their own review pass in the transcript. Adjust breath volume and length in steps, or switch presets and restore every automatic reduction at once.
  • Selective podcast sync: choose which podcasts keep their media on this device, with restore progress, device storage readouts and clear status when something fails.
  • A Background music levelling section in Effects for holding music under speech.
  • Reset: select any part of the transcript and restore it exactly as recorded.
  • View changes compares your edit with the original recording.
  • Drop imported audio into the exact gap between words under the pointer, then play, scrub and reorder it from its own card.
  • Native spell check in the editor on macOS and Windows.
  • Create New Speaker is always available in the speaker picker, and you can change the speaker straight from a transcript selection.
  • Type over a selected word to correct it.
  • The sidebar tells you when a new version is available, and your profile shows the version you are running.
  • The onboarding tour now covers switching host and guest and the Compositions list.

Improved

  • The assistant is now called RØDIE, with a rebuilt panel. Cited support articles appear as link cards that open properly, and you can trim a proposed deletion before applying it.
  • Everything RØDIE does in the editor works the same way as doing it yourself.
  • The player transport row has been rebuilt, with draggable and hover markers that show timestamps, lighter playheads, and a playhead that still works when the timeline is collapsed.
  • The timeline remembers whether it is open for each podcast and only collapses when you ask it to.
  • APHEX and Spatial replace their Off/On toggles with Reset, which returns both to their default of 0. APHEX knobs show level as a glowing ring, and the Spatial radar doubles as a live level meter.
  • Effects descriptions appear on hover, so each section reads as a single line until you want the detail.
  • Redesigned editor header and right side, plus a new Appears In section and profile header in People.
  • Background noise is set with one level for the whole recording instead of per section.
  • The new RØDECaster Studio logo appears throughout the app and the Windows installer.
  • The unedited composition is called Original everywhere.
  • Exports are named after the composition you are exporting.
  • Room tone in silences is steadier and no longer replays background chatter.
  • RØDIE can trim silence from the start and end of a recording.
  • Waveforms show finer detail, and you can zoom further into the timeline.
  • Reverb reduction no longer adds reverb into pauses.
  • Transcript polish: deletion handles sit on the word edge, punctuation stays balanced when replacing, Escape dismisses a correction, and deletions across paragraphs move as one.
  • The Apply and Discard bar stays visible when you arrow to the next edit.

Fixed

  • Dragging a music lever leaves a single undo step instead of one per tick.
  • Recordings that uploaded but never appeared now sync down properly.
  • Quitting shuts the audio engine down cleanly and tells you while it happens.
  • A word correction that takes too long reports a failure instead of spinning forever.
  • Exporting no longer locks up the editor and home screen, and the platform preset dropdown is labelled Preset.
  • Audio files with no sound in them are refused before uploading.
  • The APHEX panel explains why it is dimmed.
  • You are told when Word Volume Correction fails.
  • Room reverb reduction no longer starts overlapping processing, including when a project opens.
  • The host and guest section no longer hides people, and Change speaker only offers people already in the podcast.
  • Empty Trash works reliably, and a pending upload whose file is missing can be discarded.
