  • RØDIE does more for you

Ask RØDIE to reduce breaths, set background noise or music levels, turn on APHEX Auto, or export just the words it finds. It keeps your chat when an edit creates a new version.

New

  • Volume on a transcript selection. Right-click selected words, choose Volume, then pick Speech, Noise or Music and drag the slider. Preview plays the selection with a little audio either side.
  • A Long pauses section in the Repair tab. Choose Pauses longer than, then Set length or Shorten by %, and see how many pauses match and how much time they save before you press Shorten pauses. One Undo puts them all back.
  • Select audio on the timeline waveform and cut it, including sounds the transcript has no words for. Press Delete to cut, or right-click for Play selection.
  • A level meter and a live loudness readout in LUFS in the editor's player. It measures the same way as export.
  • RØDIE can reduce breaths, set the noise for part of a recording, set music level, word levelling and auto-level, turn on APHEX Auto, and export a selection or the words it finds.
  • Every recording opens in Audio view as well as Transcript view, including recordings made on a single mic. Switch between them at the right of the top bar.
  • Room reverb reduction for each track in Audio view.
  • A topic rail beside the transcript. Hover it for an outline of every topic and click to jump there.
  • Correct, Adjust, Insert silence, Change speaker, Export selection and Reset have keyboard shortcuts. Open Help > Keyboard Shortcuts in the editor to see them all.
  • A Help menu in the editor with the User Guide, Keyboard Shortcuts, Guided Tour, What's New and Send Feedback.
  • What's new in each update appears the first time you open it.
  • Drag a track by its body to line it up, or nudge it with the − and + buttons.
  • Rename or delete a track from its menu in Audio view.
  • In Audio view, hold Option (Alt on Windows) and drag the volume line between two points to move a whole stretch.
  • Processing shows the time left on each step, and uploads show their size and speed.

Improved

  • The Repair tab is redesigned into grouped cards. Breath control and Word levelling each have a Basic and an Advanced setting.
  • The Mix tab in Audio view follows the same layout as Repair. Auto-mix settings sit on its card, and Apply runs it straight away.
  • The editor opens where you left each recording, including after a restart and when you switch versions.
  • Play after scrolling starts from the text in view. A Back to playhead button takes you back.
  • You can keep scrolling, playing and chatting with RØDIE while a correction waits for its audio.
  • RØDIE changes the right occurrence when you name one, such as "the second one", and removes only the filler words you ask for.
  • Scrollbars show only while you hover or scroll. The Audio view timeline scrolls when you drag the playhead to its edge.
  • A clearer Folders area when you have no folders. Drop a recording on it to create a folder.
  • Music detection is more accurate.
  • Each account on this computer keeps its own library. When you log out, choose Keep and Log Out to pick up where you left off, or Remove and Log Out if others use this computer.
  • Recordings no longer need Start Editing before you can edit them or use RØDIE.
  • "Podcasts" are now called "Recordings" throughout the app.
  • You can keep editing while View changes is on.
  • Zoom both timelines with Option, Alt, Cmd or Ctrl and the scroll wheel, or by pinching. A plain scroll wheel no longer zooms the editor timeline.
  • Zoom Audio view with the − and + buttons or the slider between them.
  • Correct no longer regenerates the audio unless you ask it to, and All shows how many times the word appears.
  • Auto-mix is explained in plain words, keeps the last person who spoke audible through pauses, and no longer needs an activity threshold.
  • Music is detected while a recording is still uploading, so it is ready sooner.
  • A recording you import no longer downloads its own audio again after uploading.
  • Cleaner voice separation.
  • Smoother tab switches, and consistent colours in the light theme.
  • A refreshed RØDIE unlock screen.

Fixed

  • Recordings that stayed on "Downloading audio" now show an error with Retry, and recover on their own once the file is available.
  • RØDIE keeps working after Update Recording, and the updated recording stays selected.
  • RØDIE keeps your conversation when an edit creates a new version of the recording.
  • RØDIE no longer refuses an export straight after turning on APHEX Auto.
  • Apply All and Discard All are back for RØDIE's edits, in a bar that floats over the transcript.
  • Play explains why nothing happens when no audio output is available, instead of failing.
  • Uploads recover from stalled transfers.
  • A failed voice replacement no longer blocks RØDIE's later edits.
  • A crash when repairing plosives on long recordings.
  • Breath cuts on stereo recordings.
  • The import progress bar shows finished steps as done.
  • Audio view is unavailable, with a reason, until a recording's tracks are on this computer.
  • Recently Deleted shows when something was deleted in your local time.
  • Deleting a composition says it won't go to Recently Deleted.
  • Choosing Move to... closes the right-click menu, so the folder list no longer covers it.
  • MP3 exports stay under the -1 dB true-peak limit, including at 128 kbps.
  • Transcript text exports keep each speaker's name after a recording's audio is updated.
  • Windows: Data & Storage counts each recording's full size on this computer.
  • Windows: Reveal in Explorer works when the export path contains a comma.
  • Windows: clearer installer text.

Sign-in that recovers when it expires, a redesigned import screen, and multi-file multitrack import.

  • Sign-in that recovers on its own

When your sign-in expires, the app asks you to sign in again. Your library stays put and anything queued carries on uploading once you're back.

Drop several files at once to bring them in as one multitrack recording.

  • A redesigned import screen

The import screen has been redesigned and shows the overall percentage on every step.

  • Select several folders at once in the sidebar.
  • Open location on a finished export.
  • Spelling suggestions in RØDIE's chat box.

  • Logging out with unsynced changes offers Delete and log out instead of a dead end.
  • The Account page and sidebar keep showing your account while you are offline or your session has expired, without raw error text.

0.89.0

25 September 2026

Projects save again on Windows, plus easier breath review and faster opening of breath-scanned podcasts.

  • Windows projects save again

Saving failed with "Access is denied" on Windows since 0.85.0. Imports open again and autosave, export and log out all work.

  • Remove or restore a breath

During breath review you can remove a single breath or bring it back.

New

  • Remove and restore individual breaths during breath review.
  • With View changes on, removed breaths show where they were, and you can restore them from there.

Improved

  • A breath now takes over the pauses it covers.
  • Podcasts that have been scanned for breaths open faster.
  • Exporting from the editor's Export button names the file after the current composition.

Fixed

  • Windows: projects save again. Since 0.85.0, saving failed with "Access is denied", so new imports would not open and autosave, export and log out failed.
  • Turning background noise back up with a quick click on its slider now takes effect.
  • Trash no longer crashes when only multitrack preparations are left in it.
  • An import that is still uploading is no longer labelled as Restoring.

  • Less flicker while audio loads, with finished waveform sections staying visible.

Fixed

  • Waveforms no longer go missing when a long podcast is zoomed all the way out.
  • Waveforms load properly when you reopen the podcast editor.

0.85.0

23 September 2026

A multitrack editor for preparing recordings, optional multitrack downloads, and more reliable RØDIE edits.

  • Prepare recordings in multitrack

Shape each track with editable volume curves, microphone auto-mix and solo controls, and watch the mixed output on its meters.

  • Download multitrack only when needed

Multitrack audio downloads on demand and can be cancelled. Storage, cloud sync and autosave settings now live in one place.

  • A speaker gain that can't be read shows as unknown instead of 0 dB.

0.84.0

14 September 2026

Breath control, selective podcast sync, View changes, and the assistant becomes RØDIE.

  • Breath control and review

Breaths are found on your device and get their own review pass in the transcript. Turn their volume and length up or down, or restore them all at once.

  • Choose what stays on device

Pick which podcasts keep their media on this computer. Free up space without losing the project, and download it again whenever you need it.

  • See what you changed

Compare your edit with the original recording, and put any selection back exactly as it was recorded.

  • Meet RØDIE

The assistant has a new name and a rebuilt panel. Support articles open as link cards, and you can trim a suggested deletion before applying it.

New

  • Breath control and review: breaths are detected on your device and get their own review pass in the transcript. Adjust breath volume and length in steps, or switch presets and restore every automatic reduction at once.
  • Selective podcast sync: choose which podcasts keep their media on this device, with restore progress, device storage readouts and clear status when something fails.
  • A Background music levelling section in Effects for holding music under speech.
  • Reset: select any part of the transcript and restore it exactly as recorded.
  • View changes compares your edit with the original recording.
  • Drop imported audio into the exact gap between words under the pointer, then play, scrub and reorder it from its own card.

  • Type over a selected word to correct it.
  • The sidebar tells you when a new version is available, and your profile shows the version you are running.
  • The onboarding tour now covers switching host and guest and the Compositions list.

Improved

  • The assistant is now called RØDIE, with a rebuilt panel. Cited support articles appear as link cards that open properly, and you can trim a proposed deletion before applying it.
  • Everything RØDIE does in the editor works the same way as doing it yourself.
  • The player transport row has been rebuilt, with draggable and hover markers that show timestamps, lighter playheads, and a playhead that still works when the timeline is collapsed.
  • The timeline remembers whether it is open for each podcast and only collapses when you ask it to.
  • APHEX and Spatial replace their Off/On toggles with Reset, which returns both to their default of 0. APHEX knobs show level as a glowing ring, and the Spatial radar doubles as a live level meter.
  • Effects descriptions appear on hover, so each section reads as a single line until you want the detail.
  • Redesigned editor header and right side, plus a new Appears In section and profile header in People.
  • Background noise is set with one level for the whole recording instead of per section.
  • The new RØDECaster Studio logo appears throughout the app and the Windows installer.

  • RØDIE can trim silence from the start and end of a recording.
  • Waveforms show finer detail, and you can zoom further into the timeline.
  • Reverb reduction no longer adds reverb into pauses.
  • Transcript polish: deletion handles sit on the word edge, punctuation stays balanced when replacing, Escape dismisses a correction, and deletions across paragraphs move as one.
  • The Apply and Discard bar stays visible when you arrow to the next edit.

  • Recordings that uploaded but never appeared now sync down properly.

  • A word correction that takes too long reports a failure instead of spinning forever.
  • Exporting no longer locks up the editor and home screen, and the platform preset dropdown is labelled Preset.
  • Audio files with no sound in them are refused before uploading.
  • The APHEX panel explains why it is dimmed.
  • You are told when Word Volume Correction fails.
  • Room reverb reduction no longer starts overlapping processing, including when a project opens.
  • The host and guest section no longer hides people, and Change speaker only offers people already in the podcast.
  • Empty Trash works reliably, and a pending upload whose file is missing can be discarded.

0.82.0

28 August 2026

Drag and drop import, an Audio settings pane, a Windows menu bar, and reliable desktop sign-in.

  • Drag and drop to import

Drop audio files straight onto the app to import them.

  • Choose your output device

A new **Audio** pane in settings lets you pick the output device and set its level.

  • A menu bar on Windows

Windows now has a menu bar in the window on every screen, with Ctrl shortcuts. **File > Open Recent** lists your last five podcasts.

  • Your local data refreshes once

On first launch the app clears its local copy and re-syncs your podcasts from the cloud. You stay signed in, but let any uploads finish before you update.

New

  • Drag and drop audio onto the app to import it.
  • Answer a question from RØDIE in your own words, not only by picking one of its options.
  • A new Audio pane in settings for choosing the output device and setting its level.
  • File > Open Recent lists the five podcasts you opened most recently, with Clear Menu.
  • Windows: a menu bar drawn inside the window on every screen, with Ctrl shortcuts.
  • File > Import Audio is available on the home screen as well as in the editor.
  • Export selection on the transcript right-click menu.
  • Press Enter to start a new paragraph and Backspace to remove the break, each as a single undoable edit.

Improved

  • macOS: folder access now uses the standard macOS permission prompts, and app data is stored in Application Support.
  • Windows: app data has moved out of your Documents folder so OneDrive no longer syncs it.
  • Your local data is cleared and re-synced from the cloud on first launch. Let any uploads finish before you update, as a file the server has not received yet can't be recovered.
  • The home sidebar and podcast actions have been redesigned, with Import moved under your account.
  • Update checks are more reliable, and an unexpected answer no longer silently turns off update prompts.
  • In Spatial, speakers can be placed up to 45° left or right. Speakers you placed further out move to 45°.

Fixed

  • Desktop sign-in no longer expires after about a minute, and a failed sign-in no longer blames your network when that wasn't the cause.
  • The offline notice says the right thing when you are signed out.
  • MP3 export labels its setting Bitrate, not Bit Depth.
  • Replacements made by RØDIE behave the same as clicking the word, and replacements with accented characters no longer duplicate the words either side.
  • Audio preparation that gets stuck now cancels instead of hanging the app.
  • macOS: menus no longer snap shut while audio plays in the editor.
  • Exports contain the words the transcript shows, without the playback silence tail, and clip duration shows the real length.
  • Your selection survives a reload or a click on the surrounding window. Trackpad scrolling no longer selects text by accident, and drag-select waits for real movement.
  • Title bar controls respond to double-clicks.
  • The playhead stops on the word you clicked, failed word corrections tell you so, and corrections that change nothing are no longer sent.
  • Composition card separators are centred, and onboarding step icons are framed correctly.

0.79.0

21 August 2026

APHEX and Compellor work on Windows, a first-run tour, and shortcut hints in tooltips.

  • APHEX and Compellor on Windows

The effects now change your audio in the installed Windows app. In earlier versions they had no effect.

  • A guided first-run tour

New to the app? A short tour points out the composition selector, topics, the right-side tabs and the editor.

  • Shortcuts in tooltips

Hover a button in the title bar or a popover to see its keyboard shortcut.

  • Insert silence anywhere

You no longer need to select text first. With nothing selected, **Insert Silence** adds it at the playhead.

New

  • A first-run tour walks you through the composition selector, topics, the right-side tabs and the editor.
  • The sidebar has an Upload row, and you can create a folder from the Folders header.
  • Title-bar and popover buttons show their keyboard shortcut in the tooltip.

Improved

  • Every tab on the editor's right side shares one layout, so they size, inset and scroll consistently.
  • Insert Silence no longer needs a transcript selection. With nothing selected it inserts at the playhead.
  • Controls use the plain arrow cursor. The hand pointer is kept for text links.
  • Knobs and sliders ignore the mouse wheel, so scrolling past a control no longer changes its value.
  • Tighter spacing in the APHEX panel.
  • Deleting words crossfades more smoothly when playback resumes on the word before the cut.

Fixed

  • Windows: the transcript no longer reflows during playback as the highlighted word moves along.
  • Adjust dialog: it stays on the right target after a change, shows accurate neighbouring words, and keeps a neighbour visible even when it is fully used.
  • Undo and redo work inside the correct-word field, and pasting into it no longer starts a correction.
  • Jump-to-word and follow-along scrolling no longer fight each other.
  • The APHEX Auto button stays clickable while APHEX is off.
  • Windows: APHEX and Compellor now work in the installed app. In earlier versions they had no effect on your audio.
  • Fixing a word's timing in the Adjust dialog is saved properly instead of being lost on the next save.
  • The podcast title matches its composition label.
  • The speaker label on the timeline is centred properly.

0.76.0

19 August 2026

A new layout, Export as an editor tab, your system font, and exports that match your selection.

  • A cleaner window

The sidebar now runs the full height of the window. On macOS the title bar is a slim overlay, and you can drag the window from the top of any screen.

  • Export lives in the editor

Export is now the last tab on the editor's right side. It follows your transcript selection and keeps its settings when you switch tabs.

  • Exports match your selection

Exporting a clip now gives you exactly the range you selected, not the full recording.

New

  • The welcome screen has separate Sign in and Create account buttons, with a waitlist note above them.

Improved

  • A new layout with a full-height sidebar. On macOS the title bar is now a slim overlay, and you can drag the window from the top of any screen.
  • Export is now the final tab on the editor's right side, follows your transcript selection and keeps its state when you switch tabs.
  • The app uses your system's own interface font on macOS and Windows.
  • Icons and controls stay full white instead of picking up the dimmed text colour.

Fixed

  • Exporting a selection exports the range you selected, instead of a full-length file labelled as a clip.
  • Importing a recording no longer opens a screen that is not ready yet, and only the recording you imported gets selected.
  • If the APHEX or Compellor effects can't load, they show as unavailable instead of offering controls that do nothing.
  • The composition picker closes properly and updates once access is confirmed.

0.74.0

18 August 2026

Follow-up fixes to 0.73.0 for Host & Guests, sample podcasts and filler removal.

Improved

  • Tidier punctuation in on-screen text across the app.

Fixed

  • Host & Guests no longer comes up empty when the transcript arrives after the page has opened.
  • Resetting a sample podcast no longer leaves it stuck loading.
  • Filler removal keeps "like" when it is part of the sentence rather than a filler word.
  • macOS: permission prompts now ask as RØDECaster Studio rather than under the old product name.

0.73.0

18 August 2026

Cleaner silences and seams, file pickers that remember your folders, and recordings that no longer get stuck syncing.

  • No more stuck syncing

Recordings can no longer get stuck on "still syncing". Any recording already affected heals itself the next time you open it.

  • Cleaner silence and room tone

Gaps are rebuilt from the cleanest nearby room tone, so you no longer hear a thump at the seams around your edits.

  • File pickers remember your folders

Import and export dialogs each remember the last folder you used, so you stop starting from the top every time.

  • See music detection progress

A progress toast follows music detection while you edit, so you know when it is done.

New

  • Music detection shows its progress in a toast on the edit page, ending with a Finishing up spinner once it reaches 100%.
  • File pickers remember the last folder you used, separately for each kind of dialog.
  • The collapsed player bar shows a timestamp on hover, so you can read the scrub position without expanding the timeline.

Improved

  • The Adjust dialog has been redesigned.
  • Playback and export always use the separated voice, music and background tracks, even with every level at 0 dB.
  • Silence and room tone are rebuilt from the cleanest nearby room tone instead of repeating the gap's own audio, removing the thump at seams.
  • Crossfades around edits are smoother, and breaths no longer leak into gaps that should be silent.
  • Background music shortens to match your edits and fades out smoothly.
  • Fix timing is more reliable around the edges of an edit.
  • Clearer message when sign-in is refused because your email address has not been verified yet.
  • Windows: the installer is fully RØDE branded and the app icon has been updated.

Fixed

  • Recordings can no longer get permanently stuck on "still syncing", and recordings already affected recover when you open them.
  • Missing local audio, including history audio, is downloaded again automatically.
  • Local disk space is reclaimed properly, and permanently deleting a recording removes its files.
  • Signing out removes all of your local data.
  • Repeated identical notifications collapse into a single toast.
  • The login error banner looks right in the light theme.

0.72.2

12 August 2026

Starting over with RØDIE clears what it remembered, and the Windows app gets its RØDE icon.

Improved

  • Windows: the app now uses the RØDE icon instead of a placeholder.
  • Opening a podcast no longer flashes an error card with a Retry button while it is still being prepared.

Fixed

  • Starting a new RØDIE conversation, or resetting a podcast, now properly clears what RØDIE remembered from before.
