Install RØDECaster Studio and Sign In

Last updated: September 2026

RØDECaster Studio is a desktop app for macOS and Windows. Almost everything works offline, but the first sign-in does not, so do that while you have a connection.

What you need

You'll need a Mac running macOS 11 (Big Sur) or later on Apple Silicon, or a 64-bit Windows 10 or 11 PC. You'll also need a RØDE account whose email is unlocked for the beta: joining the waitlist isn't the same as having an account.

Leave more room on disk than your recordings take: editing a podcast uses several times the space of the files you started with. For the formats it imports, see Import & Upload Recordings.

Install it

Installers live at studio.rode.com/download. The names carry no version number, so check the date before you open last month's copy by mistake.

On macOS, open RodeCasterStudio_App_MACOS.dmg, drag RØDECaster Studio onto Applications, then launch it from there.

On Windows, uninstall any older build first, under Apps in Windows Settings. Then run RodeCasterStudio_App_Windows_Setup.msi, approve the administrator prompt and follow the wizard. Don't skip that uninstall: two builds on one machine break sign-in, and it looks exactly like a network problem.

On the Welcome screen, choose Create account the first time and Sign in after that. Your browser opens the RØDE sign-in page, you enter your email and complete whatever that account uses (password, passkey, Google or Apple), then come back to the app. You have five minutes before it stops waiting.

The first sign-in takes a while. A long sit on Synchronising your account… is normal, so leave it be: when it finishes you'll have folders, people and a few recordings ready to open. After that you stay signed in, and relaunching goes straight to your library.

Refused? Press Sign in again before anything else. If the same banner returns, it tells you what to do about it.

Working offline

Lose your connection mid-edit and you can carry on. Podcasts whose audio is already here play and edit as normal, and changes sync when you're back. Three things wait for the network: importing a recording, restoring a podcast you removed from this computer, and any correction that has to make new audio.

Signing out

Sign out when you're handing the machine over or switching accounts. Click your name at the top of the sidebar, choose Account, then press Log Out under Log Out from Account.

This clears that account's audio and transcripts off the computer. Sign back in and your library returns preview-only: titles and summaries to read, and audio to restore before you can play, edit or export it. See Local Copies & Storage, and Settings & Your Account for the rest of the Account page.
